An invitation to the world of Astronomy and the Cosmos.

Would you like to learn how to observe the heavens?  Are you interested in astronomical training opportunities or instructional materials that meet your needs, with a personal touch?  Would you like to enjoy the social aspect of observing, meeting and interfacing with others who share your interest in a particular field of astronomy?

The best way to learn how to observe the heavens is to do it with the aid of a more experienced observer. Our club programs can help everyone learn and share.

The membership consists of people from all walks of life: from students to medical doctors; from enthusiasts and retired engineers to business owners and professional astronomers; all who enjoy the beauty, mystery and science of the cosmos. Monthly meetings, prominent guest speakers, observing sessions, outreach and fun get togethers provide an excellent way to socialize and meet new people who share a love of astronomy.

Do you have a particular interest?  Active Special Interest Groups such as the Tuesday Night Imagers meet once a week to image various objects in the sky and an Astrophotography Processing Group meets to improve and enhance image processing skills.

Would you like to use some exceptional and large telescopes that can see the rings around Saturn and many other astounding treasures found in the night sky? We have them.  Would you like to try out a telescope?  There is a member telescope loaner program. Want to buy a telescope but never knew which one to buy? We can help with that too.

Members have free use of the Dark Skies found at Beaver Meadow in North Java, N.Y.  After a brief training session, they also have use of the associations Beaver Meadow Observatory (BMO) where the club houses a 20-inch Obsession telescope and a computerized 14-inch Celestron SCT with a Televue NP101 piggybacked for astrophotography or visual observing.

The Spectrum is The Official Blog of the Buffalo Astronomical Association (BAA). Along with Members Only Discussion Forums there are varied ways of sharing observations, theories and impressions.  There are even opportunities to hold a physical piece of our solar system and put a tangible perspective to the stories and observations.

Share your interest and experience with other like-minded people. There is no better way to enjoy the wonderful science of Astronomy.  Satisfy you curiosity and join us.
